Parent Effectiveness Training with Kelly Meier
November 21, 2019
Parent effectiveness training, or PET, is an approach to parenting that takes into account the individual child – his temperament and what is motivating him.

Do you have a strong-willed child who tests the limits, leaving you feeling as if you’re constantly fighting for their cooperation? I had a child like this, and it was a few years before I discovered a word that described her without sounding negative.
Some children are more intense, sensitive, persistent, and energetic than others and it’s easy to feel like you’re alone in dealing with your spirited child. This is never more relevant than when it comes to feeding and mealtimes.

On the show this week I have Kelly Meier. She is the creator of Respectful Parent – a resource to help moms and dads find the balance in their role as parents.
Kelly is a mom, a certified parent effectiveness training (PET) instructor, and a parent coach in San Diego, California. Her mission is to help as many people as possible see their kids in a less challenging light.
We do better with our children when we partner with them and pay some attention to what makes them tick, so tune in this week to discover Kelly’s tips for communication and cultivating an environment where your kids can make informed decisions based on their needs.
